One of the recent ASE 15.7 releases (ESD 2? SP 100?) added the ability to reselect the entire contents of a pipe table with the new 'set mon_stateful_history {on | off}' command.
As for the size of the pipe tables look at the '% pipe max message' configuration settings. These settings are multiplied by the number of engines to obtain the total size of the pipe.
