Hello Nia,

Please see the response to your question below -

A) Will Phrase management be relevant for MSDS?

Yes - Typically Phrases are managed in phrase libraries, from which you select the data  to Prepare your specification which later can be out put on text report such MSDS, Labels. Some example are first aid measures, R and S Phrases.

B) Please let me know high level process for QM inspection Plan and how it helps integration with QM in product safety.

Standard SAP EH&S provides functionality to create an inspection plan from the specification. The benefits of using this functionality are to:

  • To keep master data maintenance centralized and have one source of truth for inspection plan vs. Product specification
  • Minimize the entry of redundant data and
  • Reduce the potential for errors
  • Ensure the specification data is consistent in all inspection plans

The specification is created in the EH&S database (CG02).

  1. 1. Within the specification, the inspection plan relevant characteristics are marked by assigning the plant and rating.
  2. This information is used for the EHS- QM integration to create inspection plan.  When the appropriate specification is located in the CG02 transaction, right click on the specification number and select “QM Inspection Plan Creation
  3. The Create Inspection Plans screen is displayed where additional information is entered to create inspection plan
  4. Once the inspection plan is created, it can be viewed in QP02/QP03 transactions.
  5. To enable the linking of specification characteristics to quality MIC characteristics, a standard table (CGQM is maintained.

C) Is it true that substances that are generated in the system should have sufficient statues for the to be used in the MSDS?

Yes if you are using status Management for specification but I suppose your question is more toward document status before a MSDS can be released it can have various status based on customization

D) Do we have to flag material as Dangerous Goods for it being used in Product Safety?

No if it is not relevant for transportation (Dangerous goods) - You need to have environment relevant flagged Box checked if it is relevant for MSDS
